One may think that Succession is a TV series made for our blog. If you do not know it, we can summarise it as a drama focused on how the fictional Roy family fight each other to control a company. The probate made a TV show… we had to watch it.
The first season was a big success and even won the British Academy Television Award for Best International Programme.
Recently, on August 11, HBO released the second season which has eight episodes. That’s two less than the first season, but not with less emotion. What is this season about?
We left the Roy family (stop reading here if you have not watched the first season and do not like spoilers) facing a takeover of the company by Kendall Roy.
Season 2 will continue with the basics — rich people without a big sense of empathy and morals struggling for money and more importantly power. At the same time, the scriptwriters play with the main topics: politics, love, sex, illness, and death. By the way, the illness is personalised by Logan whose condition seems to be worsening.
The main actors of the cast will continue giving us something to talk about since Cox, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Matthew MacFadyen, and Jeremy Strong will all be there. Rich, but human, one of the success factors of this series, is the great performance of the cast representing the most basic weaknesses and strengths of the rich.
The most important new incorporation will be Holly Hunter who will play Rhea Jarrell, the CEO of another big media company that is in direct competition with the Roy family company.
The director Jesse Armstrong will also continue giving his touch of humour combined with drama that makes this series unique.
Most of the action will happen in the U.S., or more specifically in Manhattan, but we also will see places like New Mexico, Iceland, Scotia, and Croatia.
If you liked the first season, we believe this is a good continuation, and you will also enjoy this second season. We think it is a nice combination of The Sopranos, Arrested Development, and some stereotypes of rich families like the Trumps or the Murdochs.
As fun as it is as a TV series, inheritance issues are really hard in real life when you are the main actor. If you are facing any problem with the probate process, we are here to help. Just call us and take advantage of our years of experience with probate processes.
